Job Title: Scanning/Data Entry Clerk

Address: Monrovia, California

Schedule / Shift: 1st & 2nd shift

Pay: $16.90 - $18.40 per hour

Job Summary


We are hiring a detail-oriented Scanning / Data Entry Clerk to support a laboratory environment that processes human specimens . This role is responsible for accurately scanning, indexing, and entering specimen-related information into internal systems while following strict confidentiality, chain-of-custody, and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Scan and upload lab paperwork (requisitions, manifests, reports) into the laboratory system
• Accurately enter and verify patient/specimen information (labels, IDs, accession numbers, test orders)
• Perform quality checks for missing or mismatched data and escalate discrepancies promptly
• Maintain document organization and correct indexing for easy retrieval
• Support specimen receiving documentation (logging, matching paperwork to samples) as assigned
• Follow all required HIPAA/confidentiality and laboratory safety procedures (PPE required)
• Communicate with lab teams to resolve documentation issues quickly and professionally

Requirements

• 1+ year experience in data entry, document scanning, or administrative support (lab/medical preferred)
• Strong typing accuracy (speed preferred) and attention to detail
• Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with repetitive tasks
• Ability to follow written procedures and handle sensitive information confidentially
• Basic computer skills (data entry systems, scanning software, email)
• Ability to stand/sit for extended periods and lift up to 20 lbs (if applicable)

Must-Have Qualifications:

• Ability to work Monday through Friday on day shifts
• Basic data entry skills and high attention to detail
• Ability to lift and handle packages up to 20lbs
• English speaking proficiency
